The animals in the story decide to nonplus a revolution and take control over the force from the humans. Soon the story shows us how certain groups move from the original ideals of the revolution to a situation where there is domination by one group and submission by all the others. The definitive idea in this story is the political corruption of what was in one case a pure political ideal. When a individual gains government agency over other slew it seems inevitable that a righteous weakness develops in the person who exercises that power. The power that short sleep obtains ultimately corrupts him, and makes him forget, or aim to ignore, all the values and attitudes of Animalism. By doing this, he ignores the basic essentials that he should be fighting for. The power that Napoleon attains when he gains leading of the farm corrupts him gradually until he reaches a state of peremptory corruption. Corrupted by power, we see that he becomes increasingly resembling the humans that the animals had overthrown in the recent past.
