Substance Abuse
After reading this workweeks material, I realized that the sociocultural, behavioral/cognitive, psychodynamic, and biological theorists viewpoints on the causes and treatments for substance abuse all make sense in their receive rights. The viewpoint that I agree with the nigh is the cognitive-behavioral view, which states that operant conditioning may play a key mapping in substance abuse, they argue that the temporary reduction of tensity or raising of spirits produced by a medicine has a rewarding effect, and increases the likelihood that the user provide essay the reaction again ( Comer, 2005).
I agree with this viewpoint because I believe it is true, if an individual believes that drugs and alcohol can fill all void that they may have, they will continue to drink or do drugs, and at some point the dosage will increase. People may take drugs to medicate themselves when they feel tense, as well as drink excessively to forget about their problems.
There argon two specific treatments that the cognitive-behavioral theorists consider the most popular are; behavioral self-control training (BSCT), and relapse-prevention training. With the BSCT treatment therapist first have their clients keep track of their own drinking behavior, writing down the times, locations, emotions, bodily changes, and other circumstances of their drinking, hoping that they may become more aware of the situations that put them at risk for excessive drinking. With relapse-prevention training, heavy drinkers are assigned many of the same tasks as clients in BSCT, in addition they are also taught to plan ahead of time the appropriate sum up of drinks, what to drink, and under what circumstances (Comer, 2005).If you want to get a undecomposed essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
